The Federation of Wedding Photographers and Videographers Proudly introduces
Meet Adam Johnson
Hello my name is Adam. I'm a proud Mancunian, die hard Manchester United fan, music lover (huge Ben Folds fan) and I've been photographing weddings now for almost 14 years! Still loving it more than ever! Magic Happens.
What do you love about weddings?
I love the pure, unadulterated joy and happiness of a wedding. That's what is central to my photography, making sure that joy, love and happiness is bottled in your photos so that you can really, truly, feel it every time you look back at your photos.
What is your favourite part of a wedding to capture?
My favourite part of a wedding to capture really changes from wedding to wedding. I think everything just depends on the people. I don't really split a wedding day into sections in my own head - it's just one constant stream of iconic moments and my job is to freeze them in time through beautiful photos so you remember them forever. I love capturing the quiet, thoughtful moments at the start of the day and I love the high octane, messy moments of a party too. So I love it all!
How would you describe your style?
My photography style is multidimensional and doesn't really fit in a box. I've worked hard over the years especially on the way I see and capture colour and light, so my photos are rich and vibrant but also timeless in the way they look. But over and above the way my photos look I want them to be absolutely overflowing with emotion. I make my photos for the people in them but if you look at my photos of other people's weddings who you don't know and still feel something, then I know I'm doing my job right.
What one piece of advice would you give to a couple planning their wedding?
There are no rules. The most important thing is for you to have the day you want to have. So feel free to embrace or ignore any of the traditions or etiquette of wedding planning depending on whether it suits you or not. Also don't over-plan the day - it's easy to assume your guests will get bored if they don't constantly have things to do or that they need to be constantly entertained but that's not the case.
What areas do you cover and are you happy to travel?
I'm based in sunny Manchester, but over the years I've captured weddings in more than 20 countries across four of the world's continents. If you love my photography and want me to come and do it at your wedding, then I can be there. We can make it happen.
