Meet Jim Davidson
Hi, I'm Jim and I'm a wedding and portrait photographer who creates photos with feeling for fun, stylish & relaxed couples. I'm based in Suffolk but travel nationally and internationally. I've been photographing weddings for 20+ years and still loving it as much as when I first started.
What do you love about weddings?
I love the full rollercoaster of emotions throughout the day; the happy tears to the dodgy dad dancing and everything in between. It's a true privilege for me to be invited in to record all of this and to be a part of it.
What is your favourite part of a wedding to capture?
That little moment just as 'it' happens. That moment when Dad sees his daughter in her dress for the first time, when the groom turns to look down the aisle, those heartfelt words in spoken in the wedding speech and the whole room sighs, the stolen kiss when they think no one is looking. Just then.
How would you describe your style?
Relaxed, informal and calm. I'm there to get all the big moments and quite a few of the little details that happen in between. I'm there to make sure it's as fun and inconspicuous as possible.
What one piece of advice would you give to a couple planning their wedding?
Get your timings right. I know, it's the boring answer but if you are rushing from one part of the day to another or feeling pressured because you haven't given yourself enough time to enjoy the reception, it's a shame. Talk through this with your suppliers and make sure you get their suggestions on everything. Then you can properly enjoy the day without it flying by in a flash.
What areas do you cover and are you happy to travel?
I travel all over. I'm based in Suffolk but I tend to shoot only about â…“ of my weddings in the East of Englad, the rest of the year could be anywhere!
