Meet James Soules
Hi, I'm James a wedding photographer based in Kent. I tell the story of your wedding day through photos that are natural, candid and unobtrusive. My documentary wedding photography style means I work in a way that is relaxed and quiet so that I do not get in the way. You should hardly notice I am there, so you and your guests can feel comfortable while I quietly capture those real laughs, the fun and emotion of the day. Ensuring I capture the big moments through to the small details.
What do you love about weddings?
The energy and emotion of the day create some beautiful moments to happen across the day. Those amazing emotional interactions with people all there to celebrate together. I absolutely love candidly documenting these moments for my couples.
What is your favourite part of a wedding to capture?
The hugging! Immediately after the ceremony as the guests come up and start to hug the couple, nan and mum are crying happy tears, everyone is so happy and these amazing little moments of celebration start to break out and make for some of my favorite and most emotive photos.
How would you describe your style?
Candid or documentary.
I photograph your wedding as candidly as possible, blending into the crowd so that you do not feel like you are actually being photographed, almost like a guest with a camera. This allows me to quietly be at the heart of the action, catching those real moments that fly by in the blink of an eye. Giving you the freedom to enjoy your day without constantly noticing the camera. All you need to do is have a great time and enjoy your wedding day.
What one piece of advice would you give to a couple planning their wedding?
Do it your way! Try to not be led down the path of the fakery you see on social media and the fake idea of the perfect wedding or what tradition seems to dictate. Simply do it your way. I have photographed weddings that are more afternoon tea party than the traditional idea of a wedding day. Some that are more a rave, some very religious and some not.
What areas do you cover and are you happy to travel?
I am a Kent based wedding photographer but I cover the whole of the Southeast, including Essex, London, Sussex, Hampshire, Surrey and more.
