Meet Stephen Walker
Hi, I'm Ste from Liverpool and after growing up here I spent 16 years in the Royal Air Force. My creative side got the better of me after a while and started shooting weddings. Since I started my business I've captured weddings in all corners of the UK and across the globe from Sri Lanka to Albania and The Dolomite Mountains to Kenya. I love to meet new people always and travel.
What do you love about weddings?
I have no idea what I'm going to do for most weddings. Each wedding is made up of a whole new mixture of people. This always creates a unique story, a unique vibe and this is what I love about weddings. On the face of it, most weddings follow a similar format. However, every single one couldn't be different from each other. I love the spontaneity and just shooting how it all feels. From start to finish, I just love it.
What is your favourite part of a wedding to capture?
The Drinks Reception. I do love shooting the whole day. However, the drinks reception is when people are relaxed and having a great time. People are seeing people they've not seen for a long time. There are super tight hugs, huge smiles, winks, and drinks and the energy is just fantastic. It's a close first though to everything else that happens during a wedding.
How would you describe your style?
One of the greatest compliments I get from my couples when they book me is that they say; "We love your photos because they don't really have a style to them? I've had other people say they knew it was one of my photos as soon as they saw it. I like to think I don't have a style though my method creates a unique look to the images.
What one piece of advice would you give to a couple planning their wedding?
Go with your gut. Find the things that feel the best and always understand the true aspects that make up the greatest weddings are the people. Invite the right people and you're most of the way there.
What areas do you cover and are you happy to travel?
Next year I'll be photographing a wedding on my 5th continent. That's Asia, North America, Europe, Africa and South America. If anyone is planning a wedding in Antarctica or Oceana please let me know. I'm ready for you!
