Meet Tracy Maya Ecott
Hi I'm Tracy (she/her)
For 25 years, I was a sign language interpreter, like a real-life translator spilling the tea (wedding vows included!) between two worlds. Growing up with deaf parents (CODA, for the curious) definitely opened my eyes to Deaf culture and the beauty of different ways to communicate. It was awesome to bridge that gap and help the Deaf community – seriously rewarding!
But hey, everyone needs a side hustle, right? Photography's been my thing since I was a teen, way back in the film days (yikes, that dates me!). Started with epic landscapes and fancy buildings, learning to see the cool way light plays on everything. Now, for the past five years, I've been a professional photographer, capturing the magic of weddings – all the happy tears, crazy dance moves, and that indescribable feeling of love in the air!
What do you love about weddings?
I love being a wedding photographer because it's all about capturing the happiest day ever! There's an abundance of joy, laughter, and unforgettable moments that unfold throughout the day. Each wedding is like embarking on a new adventure, filled with heartfelt emotions and genuine connections. Being a part of such a special day and preserving those cherished moments is incredibly rewarding. And let's not forget about the fantastic celebration with amazing people.
What is your favourite part of a wedding to capture?
It has to be the FIRST LOOK! This moment is so special. The excitement is palpable and you can feel the joy everywhere. Seeing happy tears, and those pre-wedding jitters transform into pure joy. The couple's Love just takes over the whole atmosphere. Capturing those genuine, heartfelt emotions and being privileged to be there doing what I love is what I live for as a photographer. It’s those raw authentic moments that make my job the best in the world!
How would you describe your style?
Overall, My style is perfect for couples who want a wedding photographer who will capture the authentic joy and love of their celebration in a relaxed and fun way.
What one piece of advice would you give to a couple planning their wedding?
Soak up every single moment because, trust me, the day flies by, even if you've spent years planning it. Don't stress about the little things that might go wrong—they won't matter in the long run. Just focus on having fun, being in the moment, and celebrating your love. After all, it's your special day!
What areas do you cover and are you happy to travel?
Even though I'm based in Hertfordshire, I'm happy to travel anywhere in the UK for your big day, and I’m totally up for covering destination weddings too. Whether you're getting hitched in the Scottish Highlands or on a beach in Spain, count me in!
